애플의 새 스마트폰 아이폰18 프로와 프로맥스가 9월 18일 한국에 정식 출시됩니다. 사전 주문은 12일부터 받습니다. 아이폰18 프로의 출고가는 256GB 모델이 199만원이고, 프로맥스는 219만원입니다. 전작인 아이폰17 프로는 179만원, 17 프로맥스는 199만원이었습니다. 가격이 256GB 기준으로 20만원씩 오른 이유는 메모리 반도체 가격이 올랐기 때문입니다. 색상은 블랙, 실버, 글레이셔, 버건디 4종입니다.

Apple's new smartphones, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, go on sale in Korea on 18 September. Pre-orders open on the 12th. The list price of the iPhone 18 Pro is 1,990,000 won for the 256 GB model, and the Pro Max is 2,190,000 won. Last year's iPhone 17 Pro was 1,790,000 won and the 17 Pro Max was 1,990,000 won. The reason the price went up by 200,000 won each at 256 GB is that memory chip prices have risen. The colours are black, silver, glacier and burgundy, four in all.

Grammar points

-기 때문이다it is because ...

-기 때문이다 closes a sentence by giving the reason for what came before. The pattern is often set up by 이유는 (the reason is), so the sentence reads 'the reason X happened is that Y'. It attaches to the verb stem: 올랐다 → 올랐기 때문입니다.

Example: 가격이 오른 이유는 메모리 반도체 가격이 올랐기 때문입니다.

The reason the price went up is that memory chip prices rose.

N씩each, apiece (an equal amount per item)

씩 after an amount says that the amount applies to each item separately. 20만원씩 올랐다 means each of the two models rose by 200,000 won, not that they rose by that much together.

Example: 256GB 기준으로 20만원씩 올랐습니다.

At 256 GB, each went up by 200,000 won.
